workshop background
Douglas Irvine has created and taught music workshops for over ten years, helping thousands of students to explore both ancient and modern world cultures through music and sound making activities.
Most of Doug’s workshops evolved during his eight years of museum education work for the Artifact Center at Spertus Museum in Chicago. Doug worked with school students on a daily basis, while designing exhibits that teach about the musical traditions of ancient Near Eastern civilizations.

Organizations that have hosted Doug's workshops include:

  • The Artifact Center at Spertus Museum
  • Chicago Symphony Orchestra (ECHO Center)
  • Honolulu Academy of Arts
  • Oriental Institute Museum, University of Chicago
  • Seattle Art Museum
  • Tacoma Art Museum
